As more and more people with autism enter adulthood which includes: wanting to go to college, work in competitive integrated employment, live independently, the world of autism can be overwhelming. There are many acronyms to understanding to DDD, VR, AHCCCS and ALTCS. These acronyms can be overwhelming to understand which can leave parents of those wit autism who are becoming adults lost in a maze. Luckily, locally organizations like the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center, which was founded in 1997 by two moms and a developmental pediatrician, Raun Melmed, to help pave the way for a more inclusive world for those with autism and their families- to create research and rpgorams and services. These days SARRC has been around for 30 years and operates 4 campuses which are anchored by SARRC's inclusive Community School program.
